GH Max is produced in the US by Universal Nutrition and marketed as the ‘ultimate growth hormone (GH) support formula for the serious bodybuilder or powerlifter’.
Although the product is primarily designed to boost the body’s ability to produce human growth hormone (HGH), Universal Nutrition promises several other benefits:
- Increased nitrogen retention
- Enhanced protein synthesis
- Reduced protein breakdown
They also state their formulation is the only one that contains a pharmacologically-proven 2:1 ratio of arginine to ornithine, but fail to state why this may be important. In fact they fail to provide much information at all. The sales page on their official site contains just one paragraph.

What is GH Max and how does it Work?
GH Max is a bodybuilding supplement designed to boost muscle growth. The main way this is achieved is through stimulating the pituitary gland and encouraging it produce increased quantities of growth hormones.
Key Ingredients
Each (6 tablet) serving provides:
- Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid) (100mg): Tests show that deficiencies in vitamin C can restrict the body’s ability to produce HGH.
- Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine HCI) (20mg): Helps the body maintain its stores of zinc and magnesium—both of which can help boost HGH production during sleep.
- L-Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (5g): Boosts nitrogen retention and ensures nutrients are delivered quickly and efficiently to the muscles.
- L-Ornithine HCI (2.5g): An amino acid derived from L-Arginine and believed to stimulate HGH production.
- Beta-Sitosterol (100mg): A plant derived sterol known to affect cholesterol and hormone levels.
- Carnitine (as L-Carnitine Fumarate) (100mg): An amino acid that has the power to boost the metabolism and encourage fat burning.
- Gamma Oryzanol (from rice bran) (50mg): Although Gamma Oryzanol is usually considered a HGH providing ingredient, some tests indicate it may actually inhibit HGH production so further study is required.
Dosage
Six tablets should be taken each day on an empty stomach.
On training days four tablets should be taken prior to the workout. The final two tablets of the day should be taken at bedtime.
On non-training days the tablets should be split into three doses:
- Two tablets in the morning
- Two tablets in the afternoon
- Two tablets at bedtime
Customer Feedback
Customer feedback is plentiful and although one customer complains ‘the pills smell awful when you open the container’ it has to be said the majority of feedback is very good.
Three average reviews read:
Health Considerations
The tub’s label warns that GH Max is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18 or people who are suffering from any medical condition or disease. It also suggests all users consult a doctor prior to use. These are pretty standard considerations, but what follows is alarming to say the least: “For the State of California—this product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.”
This warning is not mentioned on the manufacturer’s website or by any of the online retailers selling the product; so most customers will probably remain in the dark about the negative aspects of the product until they have already purchased a supply of GH Max and begin reading the label.
The fact that the chemical is not mentioned by name presents a further cause for concern because, although several of the main ingredients and some of the filler ingredients are known to present the possibility of side effects, none of them are particularly associated with birth defects so it begs the question—does the blend contain unlisted ingredients?
Product Availability and Pricing
GH Max can be purchased from the Universal Nutrition website and 180 tablets costs around $40. The product is also available from many independent online retailers, as well as Amazon and eBay and, in most cases, these options will be considerably cheaper—up to half the price listed on the official site.
Guarantee
There does not appear to be a money back guarantee.
The Bottom Line
GH Max contains a few good ingredients that should boost HGH production, and the high level of positive customer feedback also indicates a strong blend, so anyone using GH Max should see some good results.
It is also more reasonably priced than many competing HGH blends, but the fact that Universal Nutrition admits one of the ingredients may cause birth defects is particularly worrying—why use such and ingredient in the first place?
GH Max certainly doesn’t appear to be a female-friendly product and is probably best considered a guy-only HGH option.
